Old city


It is an archaeological historical place,, located 10 kilometers south of Suchitoto, at The Bermuda Valley, Nowa day this city is the ruins of the primitive Villa of San Salvador. Its remarkable that it was the first of permanent establishment and one of the first Spanish municipalities in America . It is a Place of the early colonial time. The large historical documentation that exists on the Villa can be correlated with the archaeology, Its extraordinary archaeological conservation and the brief period that its occupation lasted.

The Villa of San Salvador was founded in this place, in the Valley of the Bermuda in April 1°, 1528. Old city represents, in fact, the second foundation of San Salvador , made possible for the pacification of the district, in 1528; after several years of fight. The neighbors of the old Villa complained that the place was very little for the urban growth and their lands were sterile. In 1545, the city Council requested permission to the governor, to transfer the Villa to the current Place of San Salvador location.
